Conditions Treated by our Chiropractors in Troy and Garden City
At the Gregg Chiropractic Life Center, serving Troy, Garden City, and surrounding Michigan communities, our chiropractor staff has had the honor of working with people suffering from a wide range of conditions. It's our mission to assess and determine all the unique factors contributing to your dysfunction so we can promote whole body wellness that's effective, long-lasting, and safe for the whole family.
Disc Bulge and Herniation
Intervertebral discs are covered with a tough collagen fiber-like material and contain a soft gel-like substance. Overuse, wear and tear, or even an acute injury can cause this inner gel to bulge out of place (disc bulge) or leak through a tear in the tough outer layer (disc herniation). If the injured disc comes in contact with a nearby nerve, joint, muscle, or ligament, pain and symptoms can develop. Spinal decompression is excellent for injured discs since the therapy creates a sort of "negative pressure" environment thereby attracting healing fluids and molecules to the area to reduce inflammation, accelerate tissue healing, and help the disc resume its normal position.
This condition causes progressive narrowing of the spinal canal and can lead to stiffness and nerve-related pain if a nearby nerve is impinged by the narrowing joint space. Adjustments, laser therapy, massage, exercises, and even lifestyle counseling can all help relieve symptoms related to this and similar conditions such as osteoarthritis and degenerative disc disease.
Sciatica is a painful syndrome caused by something compressing the sciatic nerve, which exits the spinal cord in your lower back. Symptoms can include pain, numbness, and tingling in the leg. Laser-enhanced spinal decompression therapy can relieve irritation and pressure on the nerve, promote healing, and reduce symptoms.
We also treat cervical radiculopathy and other types of nerve impingement syndromes, including those found peripherally within a limb, such as ulnar nerve entrapment at the elbow, median nerve entrapment at the wrist (carpal tunnel syndrome), and sciatic nerve entrapment in the piriformis (called piriformis syndrome).
Whiplash is a common syndrome following an auto accident and occurs due to the rapid whip-like movement of the neck. Neck and shoulder pain, stiffness, and tenderness, spinal joint misalignments, headaches, jaw pain, and arm tingling can occur, although these symptoms often don't appear for days or weeks following an accident. Whiplash responds well to chiropractic adjustments and other drug-free techniques, and coming to see us for help can minimize your risk of long-term consequences.
If not properly treated and resolved, acute injuries (including those sustained during a sport, auto accident, or work-related incident) can lead to chronic inflammation, aberrant scar tissue formation, impaired joint mobility, and long-lasting dysfunction and pain. Injuries such as muscle strains and spasms, tendonitis, bursitis, plantar fasciitis, ligament sprains, or idiopathic joint pain or back pain are commonly seen by our chiropractors in Troy and Garden City. We can accelerate your body's natural healing ability through services like massage and adjustments so you can get back to work and back to the activities you love as quickly and as safely as possible.
Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition causing widespread muscle, joint, and body pain, fatigue, and other symptoms. Chiropractic adjustments can "turn down" the intensity of pain signals being sent through the central nervous system and relieve tension in your muscles, thus alleviating your symptoms. Related conditions which respond positively to chiropractic care include headaches and migraines.
